Welcome to the Human Tissue Resource Center. The mission of this CAP-accredited core facility is to provide investigators with a centralized infrastructure to optimize the efficiency and costs related to research involving biospecimens. The HTRC occupies 4000 square feet of remodeled space within Pathology and functions as an integrated unit. Thus, duplication of personnel, equipment, and information systems are avoided, and coordination of activities is assured.

    The HTRC now comprises four integrated facilities: Biospecimen Bank (BSB), Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM), Digital Pathology and Histology (including immunohistochemistry).

    Currently the HTRC provides services for the collection of clinically-annotated human tissues, DNA, PBMC, saliva, and other requested body fluids. In addition, the core also provides services for tissue microarray (TMA) construction as well as cryostats and digital imaging for investigators use. In this way, the HTRC provides a coordinated, centralized, and dedicated program for the procuring, processing, dispersing and assessing all types of biospecimens together with downstream histology services.

    As of November 20th, the HTRC will change the method in which it bills for use of the LCM. Billing will now be based off of the time reserved via the HTRC’s scheduler. The scheduler will be compared with computer logs to ensure that the scheduler is being utilized and that all LCM use is being captured.

    If you need to cancel a reservation, we ask that you do so in advance, in order to give other users the opportunity to utilize the equipment. To cancel a reservation, please log into the scheduler prior to your reservation’s start time. Simply view your reservation and click DELETE.

    LabVantage has recently been upgraded to include new reporting features.

    1. Large requests will now come with a sample manifest that will list the box number and specific position for easier location of samples.
    2. It is now easier to search for paired tumor and normal samples through a new search by query option.
    3. Increased reporting is now available for participant consent data.
